A U.S. city hits an average gas price of $5 per gallon for the first time in history
On Thursday, March 5, for the first time in history, a U.S. city has hit a milestone of having an average gas price of $5 per gallon.
The milestone of hitting $5 per gallon for the first time ever in U.S. city history was hit in San Francisco, California on Thursday morning.
In California, some gas stations have seen has prices hit $5/gallon in the past but this is the first time in any cities history in the U.S. that an entire city has reached a $5/gallon gas pump price before.
The current average price for gas in the state of California is $4.886/gallon, according to Gas Buddy.
Currently, in San Francisco, regular gas per gallon at the pump is priced between $4.49and $5.19, at this time of reporting.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, had expected some U.S. cities to see $5/gallon at the pump but this is earlier than he anticipated.
A poll conducted by Rasmussen Reports found that the majority of Americans are paying more today at the gas pump compared to six months ago and that they expect the price to continue to climb.
The current average gas price in the U.S. stands at $3.728/gallon, according to AAA Gas Prices.
Why is this the case? If no sanctions have been placed on Russian oil, why is the price going through the roof? Almost overnight? And now Biden is trying open to buying oil...from Iran? Something ain't right here.
crazy, I'm in Los Angeles county and have definitely seen $5 at the pump, but I had no idea it had hit the entire city. thankfully I live in a fairly purple area (Antelope Valley, home of Jorge Ventura) where we have a ton of stickers pasted at gas pumps showing Joe Biden pointing at the prices, with the text "I did that!"
also, caught a few typos in this paragraph:
"In California, some gas stations have seen *has* [you probably meant "gas"] prices hit $5/gallon in the past but this is the first time in any *cities* [should be "city's" I think] history in the U.S. that an entire city has reached a $5/gallon gas pump price before."
nice summary of this sign of the times, though, thank you
